Follow three most important rules:
◾Eat foods high in electrolytes
◾Do not restrict salt in the diet.
◾Drink enough water before and after the class.
Sweating is good for the body. During a Bikram yoga class you sweat a lot! While water is the primary substance, sweat also contains electrolytes, such as sodium, chloride, potassium, and magnesium, as well as trace elements like copper, zinc and iron. The electrolytes lost from sweat are replaced through food and plain water is what your body prefers for proper hidratiotion.
For instance high potassium fruits include banana, dates, raisins, coconut and avocado. Vegetable sources include spinach, beans, lentils and sweet potato. Get calcium from leafy greens like kale, swiss chard and arugula. Tuna, salmon, beans, pickles, olives and whole-grain bread are higher-sodium foods.
